ABOUT UA/UNIFORM ADVANTAGE BRANDS

As part of our expansion plans as a growing, global organization, Costa Rica was chosen to open a Shared Services Center, which started operations in December 2020. While our Costa Rica business office is based in the beautiful and sunny province of Heredia, at a convenient We Work building with wonderful co-working space, most of our global team members in Costa Rica are able to work exclusively from home.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Database Administrator will perform full administration and optimization of our database servers to achieve the following:

  • Availability - data is accessed via direct queries, reporting tools, replication and web queries against database servers and must be performing to business level expectations of performance. Replication knowledge is a must have as well as clustering knowledge. We do not use availability groups however extensively use replication and failover clustering in a vmware environment thus these skills are essential. Knowledge
  • Back ups - strong knowledge of backups and best practices. We use Ola Hallengren scripts in this shop.
  • Security - strong knowledge of sql server security and security best practices down to the object level is desired. Knowledge of proxies accounts, agent operator and credentials is desired as well so as to securely be able to implement service accounts.
  • Upkeeping - Strong knowledge of sql server patch levels and best practices. Ability to test patch levels and implementation in a lab environment. Sql server versions 2012 to 2019.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Closely following primary duties include Jira ticket resolution for developer tickets and production incidents using Jira.

SKILLS NEEDED

  • Tsql skills are a must though not at the expert/developer level, enough to be able to effectively query the dmvs and create/debug diagnostics Tsql scripts and understand stored procedures.
  • Some azure skills are desired with a willingness to learn and become proficient in azure down the line.
  • Good ability to document processes (Jira, Confluence, excel or other) and adhere to these processes
  • Good ability to use excel.
  • Good ability to collaborate in a dba team (this requires clear communication skills)
  • Good personal habits such as communicating on time important events and ability to be on time for meetings.
  • Willingness and drive to learn more and be their best and grow.
  • Will be in a team with other dbas and a Senior DBA

EXPERIENCE

  • Sql server DBA: 3-5 years (required)
  • Strong administration and tuning experience
  • SQL Server 2012 to 2019 experience is required

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field is desired though not required
