Internal Control Specialist

Job Description : The person hired as Internal Control Specialist will be part of the 3M Global Service Center (GSC) record-to-report team and will be responsible for ensuring Global Financial Standards (GFS) and SOX compliance, standardization of best practices and risk culture development on RTR.

The Internal Control Specialist responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

• Ensure compliance of 3M Global Financial Standards, SOX Controls and internal GSC policies through integrated testing.
• Identify process improvement opportunities over RTR processes and lead teams towards implementation.
• Respond technical questions regarding compliance of internal controls and accounting processes.
• Support RTR GFS survey process.
• Ensure testing criteria involves all related GFS requirements and keep testing templates up to date.
• Support RTR teams on the creation and follow up of remediation plans for any deficiencies identified.
• Execute post-remediation assessments to ensure solutions are sustainable.
• Create and update SOP and Work Instructions of the team processes.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor´s degree (completed) in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
• Minimum years (3) years of internal/external audit, internal controls, finance, and/or accounting experience.
• Experience performing, testing and/or evaluating internal controls over financial reporting.
• Strong USGAAP acumen.
• Fluent English (equal or more than 80% - reading, writing, speaking skills).
• Knowledge proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• A problem solver with a client service and quality-oriented mindset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Big 4 experience preferred.
• Experience working with Service Center environment.
• Experience working for SOX regulated entities and / or evaluating SOX controls.
• Process improvement experience - Lean Six Sigma.
• SAP working experience.
• COSO Framework knowledge / experience.
• Cash Application & Bank processes knowledge / experience preferred.
