JOB DESCRIPTION

Field instructor interns play a crucial role in students’ experiences and aid in the successful delivery of an Outward Bound Costa Rica course. They help ensure the safety of students, that the course objectives are accomplished, and the activities on course encompass the Outward Bound philosophy.

This role requires extensive interpersonal skills in order maintain communication between instructors, conversant in Spanish, and have strong attention to detail.

Field instructor interns report directly to the Operations and Program Director. This position requires to live at our rainforest base in Costa Rica from May/June through August, and duties are 24/7 throughout the duration of our multi-day courses.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Help lead instructors develop and run course activities- Help plan lessons, menus, and accommodation options alongside instructors/
  • Program Director- Prepare gear and other equipment for course
  • Help manage paperwork related to each course
  • Learn from instructors/Program Director

CERTIFICATIONS

  • Basic First Aid & CPR/AED
  • Lifeguarding with Waterfront Module
  • Whitewater Raft Guide License Level 2/3
  • NAUI Basic/Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver
  • Not required, but highly recommended

COMPENSATION PACKAGE

  • Salary paid at a daily rate
  • Travel insurance coverage by Trawick International
  • Access to Outward Bound Costa Rica courses and equipment for personal use when available
  • Use of Manuel Antonio beach base when approved by the Program Director
