About the Job Our engineering department is looking for a passionate and knowledgeable individual to help guide and build out our database processes. This position will help design and implement best practices across our organization. As our first dedicated database administrator you will get the chance to make large meaningful contributions and play a key role in our growth going forward. What You Will Get to Do

  • Design and implement new technologies

  • Collaborate with our SRE team on disaster recovery solutions

  • Be an advocate for best practices across our engineering department

  • Partner with developers to help deliver on company wide goals

  • Lead our dynamic database scaling efforts

  • Provide database architecting insight and advice

  • Provide best practices on implementing multi cloud solutions What You Bring to the Table

  • Experience with maintaining large databases in an enterprise environment

  • Amazon Aurora / MySQL Preferred

  • Experience working closely with development teams to identify poor performing queries and optimize them

  • Strong troubleshooting abilities

  • Experience with routine DBA activities such as upgrades, migration, patches, cloning, documentation, backups and recovery

  • Extensive knowledge of SQL

  • Experience with at least one scripting or programming language

  • Knowledgeable with at least one major cloud provider

  • AWS preferred

  • Comfortable working in complex distributed systems

  • Team player, Communication and interpersonal skills are a must

  • Hands-on, self-starter, takes initiative Languages

  • English - Proficient level
