BA/BS or equivalent degree, preferably in Humanities - Fluency in the following languages: English, Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. - Editorial experience preparing online content - Minimum one year professional proofreading, copyediting, and fact-checking experience in publishing for Spanish and Portuguese content - Minimum one year experience in Web-based publishing environment - Working knowledge of database concepts (including Excel skills) and best practices - Technical proficiency in Windows operating environment - A confident and upbeat communicator via written and verbal business communication skills Key job responsibilities A day in the life The Indexer/Copyeditor will primarily focus on titles in Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese language. The person on this role edits product descriptions for titles in the designated language, Latin American Spanish or Brazilian Portuguese. They ensure the descriptions are grammatically correct and spelled correctly according to regional standards, are the right length, are not awkwardly phrased, use regional vocabulary, and are factually correct. Fluency in the designated language and previous proofreading and/or copyediting experience in both languages is required. - Demonstrated multitasking and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment - Demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of people - Demonstrated focused attention to detail - Highly organized - An avid consumer of online media, including books (audio and print), websites, blogs, and other digital content sources - Familiarity with social media and Web-based research tools (e.g., Google, Goodreads) - Basic familiarity with SEO concepts
