SchoolMint is seeking an Accountant with experience in Accountant In Charge. You will provide overall support to our Controller, Accounting team, and various departments. This is an exciting opportunity to develop skills and experience that will serve as the basis for a career in Finance in the tech industry.

The Accountant In-Charge is responsible for the timely and accurate execution of all payroll activities and operations for assigned payroll cycles/populations. This includes processing, validation, balancing, audit compliance, exceptions, repayments, off-cycle, post-payroll, and annual processes.

What You’ll Do

  • Calculate payroll, severance payments, and any other extraordinary payment.
  • File and remit payroll taxes and process payments to third parties
  • Receive, code, enter, and process bills company-wide
  • Review and process expense reports submitted by employees
  • Reconcile credit card statements and ensure receipt of supporting documentation
  • Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely payments
  • Respond to all customers inquiries in a timely manner and escalate as needed
  • Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts
  • Assist in year-end audit requests
  • Other duties as assigned

About You

  • Fluent in English and Spanish required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • A Public Accountant license is a plus
  • 4+ years of experience in prior experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role preferred
  • Payroll experience required
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with project deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
  • Excellent communication and written skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees
